Club manager found stabbed HC

August 26, 1991

The night manager of a northeast Baltimore nightclub was stabbed to death early today, apparently while he slept in the club, police said.

The victim, Kenneth Jones, 38, of the 1700 block of Madison Ave., was found in the 20 Grande Club, in the 5600 block of Bowleys Lane, shortly before 8 a.m., police said.

A janitor at the shopping center where the club is located called police after discovering that a plate glass window at the club had been broken.

Police believe the murderer had to use a hand truck to break the window to escape because the club's doors were all locked.

The stabbing happened after the club closed at 4 a.m., police said. Jones' body was found next to four chairs on which he had apparently been sleeping, police said.

They could supply no motive for the murder today.

The killing is the 190th homicide in the city this year, equaling the murder total on the same date in 1990.
