DUMP GRIFFITH'S COLUMN

From: Ken Holniker Jr.

Eldersburg

I do not understand The Carroll County Sun's attempt to resurrect Mr. Jeff Griffith as a viable politician. The electorate gave him a decent burial in November, and it seems that your newspaper is force-feeding the public with Mr. Griffith's views regarding his love for Gov. (William Donald) Schaefer and charter government. I assume he is positioning himself to run for county executive.

I do not think it appropriate for your paper to give potential candidates the space and opportunity to campaign indefinitely. Mr. Griffith's comic-strip style of writing is offensive to many readers, and his critical statements regarding Mrs. Gouge certainly reveals his sour-grapes mentality.

Most of the readers remember that famous dog who smelled out the real politician. He had no gripe and truly can be said to have acted impartially.

I suggest that you eliminate "the way it is" and make it the way it was.

FOR THE RECORD - On the Dialogue page, we inadvertently published a letter, signed by Ken Holniker Jr., criticizing columnist Jeff Griffith. In fact, the letter was neither written nor sent by Holniker. We apologize to both men.
