Man Attacks Woman Inside A Phone Booth

A man pushed his way into an Annapolis phone booth yesterday morningand attacked a woman using the phone, police said.

The 25-year-old Galesville woman told police she had been talking on a phone in the200 block of West Street about 4 a.m. when a man entered the booth, insisted she hang up and said he wanted to have sex with her.

As the woman struggled to escape, her attacker began slashing at her with a knife and pulled her earring off, police said.

Seeing pedestrians approach, the man ran down West Street onto Jefferson Street, police said.

The woman was treated at Anne Arundel Medical Center andreleased.

Police described the suspect as a thin, 5-foot Hispanic man with black hair whose right eye appears smaller than his left. He was wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt.

WOMAN GIVES BANK THE SLIP FOR $3,000

A woman wearing a stewardess outfit and carrying a fake airline photo identification forged withdrawal slips and took $3,000 from someone else's account at a Parole bank, Annapolis police said.

The woman withdrew $2,000 in cash and $1,000 in traveler's checks from First National Bank of Maryland in the 2000 block of Somerville Road about 10:30 a.m. Monday, police said.

Later, the woman tried to withdraw money from a First National branch in Severna Park. But when a teller asked for her driver's license, police said, she left, leaving behind her fake identification.

Police described the woman only as Asian and in her early 30s.

D.C. MAN CHARGED IN STABBING AT MALL

A Washington man was charged with assault with intent to murder after a man was stabbed in Marley Station mall on Sunday.

According to the police report, the victim and Lony Adams, 19, ofthe 2400 block Elvans Road, were arguing about 2 p.m. when they started to fight.

After a few minutes, police said Adams went into a store, took a kitchen knife and renewed the fight. Police said that during the struggle the victim was stabbed once in the chest.

Adams was also charged with reckless endangerment and theft, police said.

GLEN BURNIE MAN ACCUSED OF CAR THEFT

A Glen Burnie man was charged with possession of cocaine and car theft after leading police on a chase through Pioneer City Sunday.

Police said an officer was investigating a drug complaint on Richfield Drive when he saw two men walk away from a black BMW and the driver speed away.

The car matched the description of the one the officer was looking for, so he began tofollow it.The driver refused to stop and drove to Meade Village, where he finally pulled over.

The driver told the officer he had an Ohio driver's license but did not have it with him. A computer check showed no license in the man's name and the officer arrested the driver.

Officers found a small bag of crack in the car and a small bag of cocaine in the driver's pocket. The car had been reported stolen.

Joseph Dominic Spurio, 23, of the 7800 block Woodside Terrace in Glen Burnie, was also charged with speeding and driving without a license, police said.

LAUREL MAN ATTACKED, ROBBED OUTSIDE A BAR

A Laurel man told police he was robbed by three men outside a bar Monday night.

Police said the man was walking across the parking lot of theStarting Gate Lounge on Route 198 about 9 p.m. when three men walkedup to him and hit him in the face.

The men took his money and ranaway.

Police gave no description of the robbers.

BROOKLYN PARK MAN FACING DRUG CHARGE

County police have charged a Brooklyn Park man with possession of drug paraphernalia after police searched his home Monday.

Investigators found several pieces of paraphernalia containing PCP residue in the home of Joseph Lawrence Scalon, 39, of the 900 block Victory Avenue, about 9:50 p.m., police said.

First block North Taylor Avenue: Aug. 19-20,entry gained by climbing fence. Four tires and rims stolen from vehicle parked at auto repair shop. Total loss: $1,500.

First block Franklin Street: Aug. 16, entry gained through window. Camera and wallet stolen. Total loss: $250.

First block Gorman Street, Aug. 19, Shotgun stolen. Total loss: $400.

3100 block of Port Way: Aug. 19, entry gained through door. Answering machine taken. Total loss: $100.

Edgewater:

900 block Dale Street: Aug. 18, entry gained throughthe door. Unknown property taken.

Glen Burnie:

400 block of Arbor Drive: Aug. 19, entry gained through the window. Computer taken. Total loss: Unknown.

Pasadena:

200 block of Southwood Road: Aug. 19, entry gained through door. Nothing taken.

500 block of Riverside Drive: Aug. 19, entry gained through door. Jewelry taken. Total loss: $2,940.

500 block of 6th Street: Aug. 19, entry gained through door. Nothing taken.

7600 block of Bay Street: Aug. 19, entry gained through door. Unknown property taken.

700 block of Dividing Creek Road: Aug. 19, entry gained through window. Tools taken. Total loss: $190.
