Liz Taylor unstoppers another perfume

August 21, 1991

Legendary movie star and entrepreneur Elizabeth Taylor hits the road in September to push her latest perfume for women, White Diamonds. She'll be on an eight-city tour, stopping at Hecht's at Tyson's Corner on Sept. 13.

During her stop, Taylor will hold a "Question and Answer" session with customers. The first 150 customers to buy the 1-ounce limited edition bottle, which sells for $300, will be invited to a private tea with the star. Each of the limited edition bottles is numbered and decorated with Taylor's signature. For details, call (800) 852-2433.

The perfume, marketed by Elizabeth Arden and Parfum International Ltd., is packaged in a pear-shaped container made of heavy glass, crowned with a rhinestone bow. A regular 1-ounce bottle retails for $200. On the cheaper end, a 1.7-ounce eau de toilette spray sells for $35.

White Diamonds is one of the new fragrances to hit the market this fall. Others include Calvin Klein's Escape and Chanel's Egoiste, a scent for men.
