It's a chicken-crazy country! A recent Gallup poll shows nearly 77 percent of households serve chicken at least once a week, and 49 percent say they have chicken at home at least twice a week.
In 1983, when the National Broiler Council commissioned a similar study, 69 percent of respondents said they served chicken at least once a week and only 32 percent cooked chicken twice or more a week.
Why all this chicken? Nutrition is the reason given by 43 percent of the respondents in the 1991 survey compared to just 18 percent in 1983.
And, 62 percent remove the skin.
