Baltimore City

ASSAULT: Southwestern District -- Lee Ball, of the 2600 block of Edmondson Ave., reported he was in the 600 block of Poplar Grove St. around midnight yesterday when he was accosted by a man who pulled out a handgun and fired at least one shot at him. Police said Ball was not injured and that the gunman fled the scene on foot. Police said Ball was unable to provide a reason that the gunman would want to shoot him.

RAPE: Southwestern District -- Police reported a woman was in the 500 block of Athol Ave. around 2 a.m. yesterday when she was attacked by a man who forced her to accompany him to a darkened area where he struck her several times and raped her. Police said the man escaped and that the woman was taken to Mercy Medical Center, where she was treated for injuries and released.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Employees of the Brauner Equipment Co. in the 300 block of S. Dukeland St. reported that someone broke into the building and stole property valued at nearly $300. Police said entry was gained by removing a panel from a door.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Police said someone broke into Joe's Westside Barber Shop in the 2000 block of Frederick Ave. and stole several pieces of property. Police said the value of the property was not immediately known and that entry was gained through a window.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 3000 block of Brighton St. reported that someone forcibly entered his home yesterday and stole cash and food. Police said the property was valued at more than $400.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Ernest Rucker, of the 500 block of Parksley Ave., reported he was in the 3200 block of Leeds Ave. shortly after 8 p.m. yesterday when he was stopped by a man he knows who robbed him of cash and property, all valued at more than $500, at gunpoint. Police said a warrant was expected to be issued for the arrest of the gunman.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Donna Rice, of the 6800 block of Windsor Mill Road, told police she was in the 5000 block of Dickey Mill Road yesterday afternoon when she was stopped by a man armed with a knife who ordered her to give up her money and property. Police said the man escaped with cash and personal property, all valued at more than $100.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1500 block of Carswell St. reported that someone broke into his garage by removing a lock and stole a moped valued at nearly $900.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police said an employee of Massey's Inc., a furniture store in the 300 block of N. Eutaw St., was in the 2100 block of Sinclair Lane yesterday morning when he was accosted by a man armed with a handgun who robbed him of nearly $150 in cash.

ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- Sherry Smith, of the 3200 block of Elmley Ave., reported that during an incident at her home yesterday morning a man she knows hit her several times and then pointed a handgun at her. Police said the man fled the scene and is being sought.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police said property valued at nearly $400 was reported stolen from a dwelling in the 3800 block of Elkader Ave. after someone entered through a rear basement door. Police said the intruder fled with a TV and a telephone answering machine.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Antoine Brown, of the 4900 block of Goodnow Road, reported he was walking in a wooded section near his home yesterday evening when he was stopped by a man armed with a handgun who ordered him to give up his money and property. Police said Brown complied, giving the gunman his cash and keys. Police said the gunman escaped with property valued at nearly $175.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Employees of G&G Liquors in the 1100 block of W. Baltimore St. reported that someone broke into the business early Monday and stole 15 cartons of cigarettes. Police said entry was through a second-floor window and that the property was valued at nearly $200.

ROBBERY: Western District -- William Fortune, of the 1100 block of N. Carrollton Ave., reported he was in the 900 block of N. Fulton Ave. Monday night when he was accosted by a man armed with an unknown caliber handgun who demanded his money. Police said Fortune gave up $10 in cash and nearly $100 in food stamps.
