BLC Properties Inc. has received approval from Harford County to develop a commercial office and industrial park in Riverside.
The 83-acre Riverside Corporate Center will be located on Route 7, next to the Riverside Business Park, about one mile from the new Riverside interchange off Interstate 95.
BLC said the property, zoned commercial industrial and general industrial, provides the company the "opportunity to create a unique business community of commercial office and high-end industrial facilities in an area of Harford County which has demonstrated its attractiveness to businesses seeking a suburban location in the mid-Atlantic region."
The Riverside Corporate Center has been designed to preserve non-tidal wetlands, wetland buffers and other environmentally sensitive areas throughout the site, BLC said.
For example, while morethan 40 acres of the eastern half of the parcel are within the Chesapeake Bay Critical Areas, this wooded area will not be developed, BLCsaid.
The campus-like design will accommodate corporate facilities ranging from 10,000 to 200,000 square feet.
Development of the center is expected to start in the spring of 1992 and finish by late 1995.
The project could accommodate approximately 1 million square feet of office and industrial facilities and as many as 1,000 employees, BLC said.
BLC Properties Inc. also is developing the 300-acre Riverside Business Park -- the first planned business community in Harford County.
Among companies with offices or factories in Riverside are Mercedes-Benz of North America, General Electric, Independent Can Co., Massey-Ferguson, A. O. Smith and Johnson Controls. Businesses at Riverside employ 1,600 people.
