Snap Those Chinstraps: It's 2-a-day Time

The doors to county high schools don't open until Sept. 3.

But for the several hundred student-athletes, class convened Thursday for the first day of twice-a-day football practices -- an end-of-summer ritual.

The next two weeks will find players donning helmets and pads, studying playbooks and trying in workouts and scrimmages to impress coaches searching for the best teams to take on another 10-game schedule.

The season's opening kickoff will be upon us faster than you think: Sept. 6.
