Board Of Education Explains Health Changes

The Anne Arundel County Board of Education will hold 18 health care workshops for employees during August and September to explain improvements in the employee benefits programs.

In addition, the second annual Employees Benefits Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sept. 7 at Annapolis Senior High School. The fair will include health care, investment, union, charity, savings bonds and other voluntary deduction vendors.

The health care improvements, which become effective Oct. 1.

The Board is moving major medical health care benefits from State Mutual Life Assurance (administered locally through the Loomis Company) to Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Maryland -- Traditional Program. The new health care option, Blue Cross/Blue Shield -- Preferred Provider Network, and several other improvements will be explained at the workshops.

The benefit changes will bring about two important administrative changes for employees: all employees must re-enroll by Sept. 16, for health care using the new combined health care form, and voluntarypayroll deductions for all 10-month employees will begin on Sept. 18.

The health care workshops, will be held on the following dates:

* Board of Education Room, 2644 Riva Road, Annapolis, 2 p.m. and 4p.m., Aug. 21.

* Chesapeake Senior High School auditorium, 4798 Mountain Road, Pasadena and Southern Senior High School auditorium, 4400 Solomons Island Road, Harwood, 3:30 p.m., Aug. 27.

* Severna Park Senior High School cafeteria, 60 Robinson Road, Severna Park 3:30 p.m., and Central Middle School cafeteria, 221 Central Ave. East, Edgewater, 7 p.m., Aug. 28.

* Northeast Senior High School auditorium, 1121 Duvall Highway, Pasadena, and Old Mill Senior High School auditorium, 600 Old Mill Road, Millersville, 3:30 p.m., Aug. 29.

* Meade Senior High School auditorium, Clark Road, Fort Meade, 8 a.m., andOld Mill Senior High School auditorium, 1:30 p.m., Aug. 30.

* Annapolis Senior High School auditorium, 2700 Riva Road, Annapolis, and Arundel Senior High School auditorium, 1001 Annapolis Road, Gambrills, 4 p.m., Sept. 3.

* Broadneck Senior High School auditorium, 1265Green Holly Road, Annapolis, 4 p.m., and Old Mill Senior High Schoolauditorium, 7 p.m., Sept. 4.

* North County Senior High School auditorium, 415 Andover Road, Linthicum, and South River Senior High School auditorium, 201 Central Ave. East, Edgewater, 4 p.m., Sept. 5.

* Annapolis Senior High School auditorium, 2700 Riva Road, 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., Sept. 7.
