Man shot and killed in neighborhood near Good Samaritan vHC

August 17, 1991

A 25-year-old man was shot and killed yesterday in a Northeast Baltimore apartment, shattering the quiet of a normally placid neighborhood.

The man, whose name was not released because relatives had not yet been notified, was shot several times in an apartment in the 5600 block of Loch Raven Boulevard at 12:45 p.m., said city homicide Detective Jim Hagen.

Police would not release many details of the shooting because of the continuing investigation. But a man who lives in an apartment near the one where the shooting occurred said it was preceded by a domestic dispute. He said an ex-boyfriend was shot by the present boyfriend of the woman who lives in the apartment.

The neighbor, Kevin Seymour, a 28-year-old insurance company employee, said he moved to the apartment building located across the street from Good Samaritan Hospital four years ago to escape such violence.

"I thought I got away from it, from where I used to live in West Baltimore," he said. "I never thought it would happen in this area."

Mr. Seymour said his neighbors, who include many senior citizens, were badly shaken by the shooting, and were staying in their apartments.

K? "After the incident, no one's been out that much," he said.
