Two prisoners escaped yesterday afternoon from the Cecil County Detention Center and were at large late last night as sheriff's deputies and state police continued a manhunt.
Henry Eric Hamilton, 22, of Elkton, and Philip Henry Madden, 38, of Trenton, N.J., escaped sometime after 2 p.m., Sgt. Linda Lannen said.
Hamilton had just been found guilty in Cecil County of robbery with a deadly weapon and was awaiting sentencing. He faces the same charges in Kent County.
Madden, who was serving a prison term in New Jersey, had recently been found guilty of breaking and entering in Cecil County.
Authorities said the two men probably were unarmed.
