August 14, 1991|By Boston Globe

PLYMOUTH, Mass. -- The painting of a swastika on Plymouth Rock is under police investigation as tourists and residents decried the vandalism.

"It's absolutely deplorable that anybody should do such senseless vandalism," Plymouth Selectman Alba Thompson said yesterday.

Lt. Victor Higgins said there were no suspects in the incident early yesterday. The swastika was removed within hours of being discovered.
