Police Charge Man With Robbery, Assault

A Gambrills man was robbed at knifepoint by his grandson and forced to drive to open-air drug markets to buy crack cocaine Friday night, police said.

Anthony A. Conner, 23, of the 800 block of Waugh Chapel Road, was arrested in his grandfather's family room.

Conner has been charged with armed robbery, assault and destruction of property.

The 65-year-old grandfather told police a man broke into his bedroom at about 9:50 p.m. Friday and robbed him with a kitchen knife.

After taking $6 from a pair of pants, the man forced the victim to drive to two corners where he attempted to buy crack, police said.

N.C. MAN CHARGED IN SHOOTING INCIDENT

An argument about alcohol escalated into a shooting in Pioneer City early Sunday, police said.

Lamont "Hood" Smith, 19, of Whiteville, N.C., was arrested and charged with four counts of attempted murder after an officer heard gunfire along the 1700 block of Richfield Drive at 2:19 a.m.

The officer discovered three men who said a man had begun firing at them as they were leaving a party. No one was injured and no arrests were made at that time, police reports said.

About two hours later, the dispute rekindled outside a home on the 1700 block of Circle Road, and more shots were fired.

The officer arrested Smith, seizingthree handguns in the process.

POLICE KILL $40,000 WORTH OF POT PLANTS

County police uprooted and destroyed $40,000 worth of marijuanagrowing in a field behind Rippling Woods Elementary in Glen Burnie.

An unnamed juvenile led police to the field at the end of NolfieldDrive, where police discovered 20 1- to 3-foot plants.

The plantswere removed from the premises and destroyed.
