Pro-Iranian Shiite kidnappers in the Middle East have freed three Western hostages since Thursday. Sources say further hostage releases hinge on Israel's taking the next step by freeing more than 300 Arab prisoners. Israel, in turn, has reiterated that, before it frees any detainees, it wants seven Israeli servicemen missing in Lebanon.
Of 401 callers to SUNDIAL yesterday, 67 percent, or 270, believe that Israel should not free its Arab prisoners, and 32 percent, or 131, believe that Israel should free the prisoners. Of 386 callers, 66 percent, or 255, think the Western hostages will not be released soon, and 33 percent, or 131, think they will.
"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as would be done in a scientific public opinion poll.
