TV show results in Baltimore arrest

August 13, 1991

A convicted murderer on the "15 Most Wanted" list of the U.S. Marshals Service was captured last night in Baltimore after investigators received tips from viewers of the television program "America's Most Wanted."

Michael Antonio Lucas, 31, had been serving a prison sentence of 20 years to life for stabbing a man to death in Washington in 1984. On Nov. 10, Lucas and three other inmates escaped from a jail in Pearsall, Texas, that contracts to take prisoners from the District of Columbia.

Lucas was arrested at 7:30 p.m. at a Baltimore location that officials of the U.S. Marshals Service refused to disclose. A July 12 episode of "America's Most Wanted," a show that encourages viewers to call in information about fugitives, featured Lucas. Information provided by viewers led to Lucas' arrest, a U.S. Marshals Service official said.
