August 13, 1991|By Los Angeles Daily News

LOS ANGELES -- "Hot Shots!" fought off an aggressive challenge from the new Jean-Claude Van Damme movie to remain atop the box-office chart for a second weekend. The flyboy farce earned an additional $8 million for an explosive two-week total of $29 million.

As usual, the latest bone-cruncher opened well. "Double Impact" made its premiere a close second to "Hot Shots," smashing through to $7.5 million.
