Tirado deal

It's Your Call

August 12, 1991

Most Evening Sun readers and other callers to SUNDIAL believe that the state was correct in pressing for the death penalty for Eric Tirado, who was found guilty of killing a state trooper, even though it had in hand a plea bargain to life without parole. Of 715 callers, 562, or 78 percent, agree with the state's decision. Twenty-one percent, or 153, think the state was incorrect.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as would be done in a scientific public opinion poll.
