11 Teachers Honored

WBAL-TV Channel 11 recently sponsored its second Class Act receptionto honor 11 teachers for outstanding work in the classroom.

Anne Arundel county honorees were Maureen McMahon of Northeast High Schooland Dennis Keegan of Corkran Middle School.

Nominations were submitted by parents, teachers and students. Once selected, teachers are profiled on WBAL-TV News.

GIANT OFFERS EQUIPMENT

Giant Food Inc. has announced that it will sponsor an expanded version of its Apples for the Students program during the coming school year. The program will run from Sept. 15 through Feb. 29.

"Apples for the Students Plus" will provide all area public and private schools, grades kindergarten through 12, with the opportunity to obtain free Apple and IBM computer equipment and educational software packages from Giant. However, the new versions will also enable schools to receive science and physical eduction equipment, math teaching aids, musical equipment, audio visual supplies and encyclopedias.

Schools will be able to obtain their computers and educational needs by collecting register receipt tapes from Giant.

In addition, some manufacturers will offer double credit for the purchase of certain products.

An updated catalog listing all the equipment and supplies available through Apples for the Students Plus will be mailed to all area schools.
