Anne Arundel Community College athletic director C. A. "Buddy" Beardmore announced yesterday that O. James Shuck has been named the Pioneers' women's soccer coach.
Shuck, 47, replaces Hillory Dean, who resigned last week for personal reasons less than three months after being named successor to Mike Miles.
"I'm pleased to have Jim join our program," Beardmore said through a press release issued by the college. "He brings a wealth of experience to the team, and I feel very fortunate to have someone of his caliber work toward the continued success of our program."
Shuck recently completed his second season as the South River girls lacrosse coach. He coached the Seahawks girls soccer team the past four years.
Previously, he spent four seasons as a girls soccer assistant coach at Broadneck, when the Bruins won three county titles, two regional crowns and one state championship.
Shuck, who was in Virginia yesterday and could not be reached for comment, has been a part-time instructor at Anne Arundel and Prince George's community colleges in business law, taxes and related subjects. He conducts a law practice inAnnapolis.
He inherits a program that went 86-30-12 and qualifiedfor the past three national tournaments in Miles' six seasons as coach.
