Sister Germanus Streett died Sunday at the age of 92 at the Provincial House of the Sisters of Bon Secours in Marriottsville, where she had been living since her retirement in 1982.
A mass of Christian burial for Sister Germanus, the former Mary Cassandra, will be offered at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Provincial House Chapel.
She entered the Order of the Sisters of Bon Secours in 1923, received her habit in 1926 and professed her final vows in Paris in 1932.
She graduated from the Bon Secours School of Nursing in 1928 and received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Catholic University. She later received her certification as a nursing home administrator from the same school.
At Bon Secours Hospital in Baltimore, she was a hall administrator and X-ray technician.
In 1961, Sister Germanus served as hospital administrator and oversaw all phases of construction for St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Va. From 1967 to 1978, she was administrator of Our Lady of Christians Nursing Home in Philadelphia and remained there doing private duty nursing until her retirement.
Sister Germanus was a lover of painting and antiques and also enjoyed needlepoint.
She is survived by a sister, Anne Streett of Maryland and several nieces and nephews.
Contributions can be made to the Sisters of Bon Secours for the care of the elderly and infirm nuns through the Provincial House in Marriottsville.
