2 Shotguns Found In Vehicle Search

Three Montgomery County men were charged with firearms violations Tuesday after police found two shotguns in an Isuzu Trooper automobile,county police said.

The three occupants of the vehicle were arrested at 12:45 a.m., police said, after an officer on patrol pulled theTrooper over on southbound U.S. 29 for an automobile equipment violation and noticed a 12-gauge shotgun on the back seat.

After a search of the vehicle, the officer also found a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun under the front passenger seat, police said. A box of shotgun shells also was found in the car.

Charged were Darryl Anthony Young, 20, of Silver Spring, Robert L. Thorton, 27, of Rockville, and Donald A. Carroll, 22, also of Rockville. All three were released from the Howard County Detention Center on unspecified bond.

Police said each was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon.The arrests do not appear to be linked to the recent wave of shotgunrobberies around the Baltimore area, police said.

5600 block of Gulf Stream Row: July 26, aresidence was broken into at 8 p.m. when someone kicked open the front door. Nothing was taken from the house.

5600 block of Open Sky:July 25, a 1988 Acura was stolen sometime before 11:55 p.m. from a residential area.

12000 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: July 25, a 1990 Acura was stolen sometime before 11:55 p.m. from a residentialarea.

Elkridge

7100 block of Brookdale Drive: July 29, a 1980 Chevrolet Corvette was reported stolen at 8 a.m. from a business parking lot.

Ellicott City

3800 block of Folly Quarter Road: July 29, cash and checks were stolen sometime before 11:55 p.m. from a homethat was entered through a screen door.

3800 block of New Cut Road: July 26, several compact discs were reported stolen at 3 p.m. froma home entered through a rear window.

8800 block of Manahan Drive: July 25, a 1988 Chevrolet Iroc was reported stolen at 7 a.m. from aresidential area.
