ROBBERY/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police early yesterday arrested a man in the robbery of a convenience store in the 6000 block of Harford Road and the attempted sexual assault of an employee. Police said a man entered the 7-Eleven store shortly after 4 a.m. and forced a female employee to give him money from the cash register. After taking an undisclosed sum, he then forced the woman into a rear room. There he attempted to sexually assault the woman, but fled when she cried out. After receiving a description of the man, police officers searching near White and Sefton avenues spotted a man fitting the attacker's description hiding among some bushes. Police said Dennis Ross, 28, of the 2300 block of Pentland Drive, was charged with robbery, assault, attempted rape and other offenses. Police said Ross was held overnight at the Eastern District pending a bail hearing today before a District Court commissioner.

STABBING: Northwestern District -- Police today were seeking a man in the stabbing Monday night of Valerie Blanden at her home in the 4700 block of Wilern Ave. They said Blanden was stabbed at least four times and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police said the man being sought is related to the woman.

ASSAULT: Northwestern District -- Police said Eddie Bretton, of the 5300 block of Beaufort Ave., was arguing with another man near his home early yesterday when he was struck in the head several times with a piece of wood. Police said Bretton was not seriously injured and his attacker was being sought.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Officials of the Forest Park Senior Center in the 4800 block of Liberty Heights Ave. reported that someone broke into their building through a side window and stole telephone equipment valued at more than $200.

THEFT: Northwestern District -- Audrey Ryan, of the 3700 block of Reisterstown Road, reported that someone she knows entered her home during the past several days and stole jewelry and other items, all valued at nearly $5,600.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- Police said a man entered Shon's food market in the 4700 block of Garrison Blvd. yesterday afternoon and ordered a cashier to give him money from the cash register while he kept one hand in a jacket pocket as though he was armed. Police said the man escaped with more than $100.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- Lawrence Hughes, of the 2500 block of N. Rosedale St., told police he was in the 2400 block of Liberty Heights Ave. last evening when two men knocked him to the pavement and robbed him of his jewelry and cash, all valued at nearly $1,200.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Jennifer Burdick, of the 2900 block of St. Paul St., reported she was walking in the first block of E. 29th St. early yesterday when a man came up behind her, knocked her to the pavement and stole her purse, which contained cash and property valued at more than $270.

THEFT: Northern District -- Anne Martien, of the 700 block of W. Allegheny Ave. in Towson, reported that someone broke a window of her car while it was parked in the 5800 block of York Road and stole a wallet and clothing, all valued at nearly $800.

THEFT: Northern District -- John Bates, of the 800 block of Exeter Hall Ave., reported that someone entered his home and stole a typewriter valued at nearly $400.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 3000 block of W. 30th St. reported that someone broke into her home through a kitchen window and stole a guitar valued at nearly $900.

THEFT: Northern District -- Dennis Miller, of the 3400 block of Greenway, told police his car was parked near his home when someone broke into it and stole property valued at $300.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a building in the 5200 block of York Road that contains offices of the York Road Council and stole a computer valued at more than $1,000.

THEFT: Northern District -- Stanley Becker, a dentist with an office in the 500 block of W. University Parkway, told police someone entered the office yesterday and stole $240 in cash and more than $500 in checks.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Employees of Gladney Transport in the 2300 block of Sinclair Lane reported that someone broke into their garage and stole money and merchandise of unknown value from several vending machines.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A 36-year-old resident of the 4000 block of Deepwood Road reported that someone broke into her home through a kitchen window and stole a 35mm camera, clock radio, at least one zoom camera lens and a telephone. Police said the property was valued at more than $2,000.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that property valued at nearly $200 was stolen from a dwelling in the 1100 block of Andover Road after someone removed a window screen and unlocked a door. Police said the burglar stole a purse containing cash and personal items, and several movie tapes.
