Up and Down with Baltimore

July 29, 1991|By Mike Bowler

MONTHS before its inaugural,Baltimore's yet unnamed new stadium is getting lots of good press. One of the latest glowing articles is by David Lamb of the Los Angeles Times Service. The Miami Herald headlined it: " Baltimore takes its knockls but comes back with hits."

Lamb says the Orioles' future home " resurrects the intimacy and grace of bygone parks such as Brooklyn's Ebbets Field and Pittsburgh's Forbes Field."The author misplaces the site of the 1912 Democratic National Convention - it was the Fifth Regiment Armory, not Camden Station- but we haven't heard a squawk from Mayor Schmoke and the city's image-builders.
