Here are summaries of some recent Computing product reviews. Each product is rated on a scale of one to four, with one computer indicating poor and four indicating excellent:

WordPerfect 2.0, for Apple Macintosh Plus or better with hard disk drive. $495. From WordPerfect Corp., 1555 N. Technology Way, Orem, Utah 84057. (800) 321-4566.

WordPerfect 2.0 for the Macintosh is a big improvement over Version 1.0 and a real challenger to Word and MacWrite. It has an extensive list of abilities from text styles such as strikeout and redline to powerful macros, spelling checker and thesaurus, indexing and keyboard configuring, kerning and columns for desktop publishing, and even a complete graphics program. Rating: 3 computers

(These are reviews of shareware programs for IBM and #i compatible computers. These programs run with Microsoft Windows.)

APORIA. If the tools that come with Windows don't dazzle you enough, or if you're the kind of Windows user who absolutely must create your own computer work environment, Aporia is a powerful program that lets you create tools (with their bTC appropriate icons) and actually takes over from your program manager. You can, for example, create icons for your word-processing and spreadsheet programs and have them hanging around on your Windows desktop. Then, instead of going into your program manager and hunting down the appropriate program, you simply double-click on your word-processing icon and your program is loaded. You can also incorporate all the accessories that come with Windows.

There's an excellent online tutorial with Aporia, and the manual takes you from the basics to some pretty impressive power uses. Aporia works with Windows 2.0 and 3.0. Look for version 1.4C on bulletin boards.

To register, send $54 to NewTools, P.O. Box 3269, Church Street Station, New York, N.Y. 10008-3269. Or call (800) 395-1532.

FOLDERS. This program lets you customize your program manager in ways that only the most esoteric Windows user could appreciate or understand. You can set up groups, or folders, within groups, put folders in folders, delete folders and so on. If you're an organizational freak, you'll be in Windows heaven. Look for version 3.3 on bulletin boards.

To register, send $20 to Sloop Software, Personal Data Factory, 6457 Mesedge Lane, Colorado Springs, Colo. 80919.
