California, his kind of town

Rookie catcher Pudge Rodriguez of the Texas Rangers, on ESPN's "Baseball Tonight," talked about getting married shortly after being brought up to the big leagues:

"Nice honeymoon. Got a big trip. Go to Chicago, Oakland and California. California is one of the best cities in the United States."

The quote

Carl Lewis, asked about his chances of breaking Bob Beamon's legendary long jump world record of 29 feet, 2 1/2 inches, set in the high altitude of Mexico City during the 1968 Olympic Games: "Altitude doesn't set world records. Jumping far sets world records."
