LAUREL -- Noble Guest led all the way under Rick Wilson to capture the $18,000 allowance feature at Laurel Race Course yesterday.

Through the first five furlongs of the 6 1/2 -furlong race, Noble Guest was tracked closely by Amuse And Amaze. But he put on a burst of speed in mid-stretch to draw clear, then went on to win by 2 1/4 lengths over Groom's Reckoning.

Hi Flappin, the 2.20-1 favorite in a field of seven, closed mildly to be third, another 3/4 lengths back.

Noble Guest, a 3-year-old son of Copelan, is trained by John "Pops" Lenzini Sr., who has sent out six winners from 18 starters at the 16-day-old Laurel meet. Lenzini is the father of John "Butch" Lenzini Jr., the New York-based trainer who saddled Aloma's Ruler to win the 1982 Preakness Stakes.
