Extend benefits?

It's your call

July 26, 1991

Unemployment compensation should be extended beyond the standard 26 weeks and Congress should be required to cut other expenses to pay for such extension, according to a majority of callers to SUNDIAL.

Of 365 callers, 231, or 63 percent, favored extension of the benefits, and 134 (36 percent) did not. On the other question, 226 out of 367 callers, or 61 percent, said Congress should cut other expenses to pay for extended jobless benefits, and 141 (38 percent) were against requiring Congress to make such cuts.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as would be done in a scientific public opinion poll.
