Block dancer, 24, jumped to her death

July 26, 1991

Further investigation by detectives and an autopsy by the state medical examiner's office has determined that a 24-year-old woman found dead in the rear of a downtown building Tuesday afternoon took her own life in a leap from a third-floor fire escape.

The body of Kimberly Renee Derr, a native of Macungie, Pa., was discovered about 4 p.m. Tuesday in an alley in the rear of the 300 block of West Baltimore Street, police said. Homicide detectives initially said the woman had fallen from the fire escape but were uncertain if she had jumped or been pushed.

Witnesses told police that the woman -- a dancer at a Block nightspot -- had been depressed in recent days.
