Man Charged With Kidnap, Rape Of 2

CROFTON — A Glen Burnie man has been charged with raping and kidnapping two women, county police said.

Lathaniel Spencer, 22, of the 300 block of Addison Road, was charged Tuesday with two counts of kidnapping, one count of first-degree rape and one count of second-degree rape.

Police said sex crime investigators served a warrant on Spencer'shome Tuesday. They said he allegedly kidnapped the women on separateoccasions, drove them to remote areas and raped them.

Both women identified Spencer from a group of photographs, police said. Investigators said they seized evidence from his home that linked him to the rapes.

YOUTH HELD IN ATTACK ON A FERNDALE MAN

A 17-year-old OwingsMill boy was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly beat aman in the head with a baseball bat Saturday, county police said.

Vernon Gnacyk, 36, of the first block of First Avenue in Ferndale, was in critical condition yesterday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center at University Hospital in Baltimore.

Police said Mark Anthony Luhman, of the first block of Montgomery Road in Owings Mills, was charged as an adult Monday.

The incident began about 3:30 a.m. when Gnacyk found Luhman outside his daughter's bedroom window, police said.The pair began fighting, and Luhman left the house, police said, andlater returned with three friends and a baseball bat. Police said heallegedly hit Gnacyk in the head and face with the bat.
