BALTIMORE COUNTY — 14-year-old wounded in robbery attempt

A 14-year-old boy from New York's Staten Island was shot in the thigh yesterday during an apparent robbery attempt in the Enchanted Hills neighborhood of Owings Mills, Baltimore County police said.

The boy, identified as Damon Franklin, told police he was sitting under a tree in the first block of Enchanted Hills Road moments past noon when two unknown men demanded his money. One of the strangers shot him after he said he was carrying no money, the boy said.

A passer-by called police after spotting the youth sitting under the tree with a bullet wound. He was taken to Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition.
