State prisons

It's your call

July 19, 1991

Some people seem to be of two minds about the state's prisons. A majority of callers to SUNDIAL said they would spend more money to add prison space but think conditions in the prisons should not be improved.

On specific questions, 171 of 328 callers, or 52 percent, favored spending more money, and 157 did not. Nearly 62 percent of 330 callers, or 204 respondents, were against improving conditions in the prisons, and 126, or 38 percent, said conditions should be improved.
