The Baltimore Convention Center Authority has narrowed from nine to four the number of architectural and engineering teams being considered to design a $125 million to $150 million expansion of the Pratt Street facility.

Representatives of the non-profit group formed to spearhead planning efforts for a 569,420-square-foot expansion invited the finalists to interviews next week with an eight-member advisory committee that willrecommend which team the authority should hire.

The finalists, all of which have some local team members, are groups headed by:

* Cochran, Stephenson and Donkervoet Inc. of Baltimore and Loschky Marquardt and Nesholm of Seattle.

The group includes many of the architects and engineers involved in the original Convention Center project.

* The Washington office of Hellmuth Obata Kassabaum. Othergroup members are Mario L. Schack of Baltimore and Whitney, Bailey, Cox + Magnani of Baltimore.

* A joint venture of RTKL Associates Inc. of Baltimore, Daniel Mann Johnson & Mendenhall of Baltimore and Zimmer Gunsel Frasca Partnership of Portland, Ore.

* Thompson Ventulett, Stainback and Associates of Atlanta and Mariani/Century of Towson and Washington.

Sulton, Campbell, Britt and Owens, and Cho Wilks and Benn are in this group.
