Becca Fink tallied five goals and three assists to lead Purple to a 14-5 win over Green in senior Hero's girls lacrosse action last week at Anne Arundel Community College.

Jennie Hazen and Danielle Harwood chipped in three goals each, with Hazen adding a pair of assists. Suzanne Weinberg helped out with two goals and an assist, while teammate Emily Chones scored one goal.

Ilie Goondan and Maggie Steven supplied the Purple with outstanding defensive play and each scooped up three ground balls.

Angie Burnett netted three goals in a losing cause, and Tammi Phipps and Megan O'Brien added a goal each. Heather Riley contributed one assist, and keeper Katie O'Brien recorded four saves.

* Emily Drause, Kelly Burrows and Diane McBee netted two goals apiece as Aqua outlasted White, 11-10.

Margarent Aherne, Heather Knutson, Robin Quinton, Jen Singleton and Deena Alford each had one goal for Aqua.

Courtney Hutchinson preserved the Aqua victory with eight saves. She received plenty of support from defender Beth Bell (five ground balls).

Tammi Bird scored four goals for White. Erin Delaney added two goals, and teammates Tracey Shannahan, Erin Wylde, Merry Kennedy and Emily Rohrbach netted one each.

Kim Raff played well defensively for White, and keeper Heather Striffler registered eight saves.

* In other senior league action, Shannon Cordell and Beth Snow scored three goals each to lead Fuchsia to an 12-11 win over Navy.

Peggy Schreiber tallied two goals and an assist for the victors, while teammates Lisa Feinstein, Ali Naditch, Jen Fink and Erika Lee recorded one goal and oneassist each.

Brandee Snyder had 12 saves for the victors and received the necessary support from defender Staci Samaras.

Erika Mawhorr scored six goals and assisted on another for Navy, and teammate Betsy Given added two goals. Rounding out the scoring for Navy were Heather Powell, Kara Zimmerman and Valerie Armero with one goal each.

Defenders Nicole Sanner, Kate Treacy and keeper Shannon Fitzgibbons(11 saves) were all cited by their coaches for providing outstandingdefensive support.


Mary Jo Mahoney, Morgan Stehl andJulie Bender netted three goals each to lead Navy to a 12-10 win over Fuchsia in a Hero's girls lacrosse junior league matchup last week at Anne Arundel Community College.

Jennifer Manning, Michelle Roseand Katie Vavrek rounded out the Navy scoring with a goal each. Amanda Burnett and Suzy Miller shared time in the nets for Navy and combined for 11 saves.

Providing Burnett and Miller with excellent defensive support was defender Jennie Voishan, who scooped up six ground balls and had three blocks.

Claire Wagner tallied four goals and teammates Corinne Shuck, Nicole Weisburger and Jessica Brokke each scored two goals for Fuchsia. Amy Bessette recorded an assist and defenders Josalyn Powers and Kathryn Samuel played well in defeat.

* In other junior league action, Brigid Harrington and Melissa Balance tallied three goals each to lead Purple to a 7-4 victory over White.

Laura Zimmerman chipped in one goal, and teammates Shannon Chaney, Colleen Mahok and keeper Stephanie Jack (seven saves) turned in outstanding defensive performances.

Megan Fowler, Becky Sadler, Jessica Mundt and Liz Garrott scored a goal each in the losing cause. Emily Sternberg recorded eight saves and two blocks in goal for White and wasassisted defensively by teammate Eleni Kacoyianni.
