Louise M. Carew, was partner in food firm

Louise M. Carew, 88, who had been a partner with her husband in Mrs. Minnick's Salads, died Sunday at St. Agnes Hospital of heart failure.

Funeral services were being held today at the Hubbard funeral establishment, 4107 Wilkens Ave.

Mrs. Carew lived at the Charlestown Retirement Community.

Before she and her husband, Walter J. Carew Sr., retired and turned the business over to a son 30 years ago, the couple operated a company that manufactured and distributed salads and other foods for about 10 years. It had been started by his sister.

Mrs. Carew developed a sour beef mix the company sells.

Born in Baltimore, the former Louise M. Kaiser was educated at the Millington Lane Elementary School.

She was active in the Martha Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Baltimore Chapter of the Order of the Amaranth. She had been a member of the Bou-Tem-Sci Club, an auxiliary at Boumi Temple.

Her husband died in 1988.

Survivors include a daughter, Corinne Powell of Finksburg; two sons, Walter J. Carew Jr. of Hampstead and Donald H. Carew of Ellicott City, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
