Robards, Ivey to star in Mechanic opener

July 17, 1991|By J. Wynn Rousuck

The Broadway tryout of "Park Your Car in Harvard Yard," a new play by Israel Horovitz, will open the Mechanic Theatre season, Oct. 1 to 27. Directed by Zoe Caldwell, the two-person play will star Tony Award-winners Jason Robards and Judith Ivey as a retired high school teacher and his Irish housekeeper. The show replaces the tryout of "Nick & Nora," whose producers decided to open directly in New York.

In addition, the Baltimore Center for the Performing Arts has announced that "A Chorus Line" will return to Baltimore for the fifth time, playing a special two-week engagement at the Lyric Opera House Nov. 26-Dec. 8. The longest-running show in Broadway history, "A Chorus Line" closed in New York in April 1990 after 15 years.
