The North Linthicum Pool Association is planning a fun evening Friday, July 26. Members have scheduled a " '50s Record Hop," complete with a disc jockey playing all those tunes we remember so well, and there's a dance contest to boot. A cookout with soft drinks and beer is included. Admission is $5 for members and $6 for non-members. The fun begins at 8 and continues until midnight.

The North Linthicum Pool can be reached by taking Colonial Road, off Nursery Road to the end, go right on Linda Avenue, then one block to the next left atGovernors Gate, which leads into the park.
The Roadrunners' annual picnic runs tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the BrightwaterPavilion at Downs Park. All members and associate members of the Ferndale Seniors are invited.
Planned activities include horse racingand card games, but socializing will be the main event. There is no charge for the picnic.
For those who do not have transportation, abus will be provided but you must make reservations. It will leave from the senior center, 7205 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd.
The Roadrunners recently have taken trips to Ashville, N.C., for an overnight stay and also spent an exciting day touring around the Lancaster, Pa., area. Some of their stops included an Amish market, a cookie outlet factory and the Shady Maple Restaurant.

Connie Pergerson, a nutritionist with the county extension service, will give a microwave cooking demonstration at the monthly meeting, Wednesday, July 27. The program begins at 12:45 p.m. and is preceded by a social hour at noon.

The Linthicum Heights United Methodist Churchwill conduct Vesper services outdoors in the dell near Holly Run Church, Wednesday, July 24. A potluck picnic dinner will take place starting at 6 p.m., followed by the informal worship service.
The Holly Run Church is on Church Circle off School Lane in Linthicum.
* Anew before- and after-school program for kindergarten and first-grade pupils will be made available starting this September at the Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church.
This program will be coordinated with the kindergarten program at Linthicum Elementary School. Thehours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Fees are as follows: $75 for before- and after-school kindergarten care, $55 for after-kindergarten care and $45 for before- and after-school first-grade care.
An enrollment application and a $25 non-refundable feeis required to register by July 31.

Another special event in the Linthicum Library's Summer Reading Program will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Annapolis author Jeffrey Holland will present a program of slides, music and storytelling in a rendition of his book, "Chessie the Sea Monster That Ate Annapolis." The performance is open to all ages, parents and children alike.
Registration is not requiredfor the hourlong show, but seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Copies of Holland's book and cassettes will be available for purchase after the show.

Why not spend a relaxing Sunday evening listening to good music in Linthicum Park?
The group scheduled for 6 p.m. this Sunday is The Continentals, a five-piece band under the direction of Mike Surratt.
The group plays swing, Latin, pop and rock music. This popular group was formed in 1972 and performs at festivals, weddings, dances and concerts along the East Coast.
The summer concerts are sponsored by the Woman's Club of Linthicum Heights with support from the Linthicum Shipley Improvement Association, the Lion's Club, Crestwood Improvement Association, the Performing Arts Association of Linthicum and the Anne Arundel County Commission on Culture and the Arts.
The heads of the club's music committee, Jo Barker and Delores Schuman, have scheduled and selected the groups performing in this year's series.
Patrons are asked to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating and picnic suppers if they wish.
In the event of rain, the concert will be canceled.

A Youth Football Clinic sponsored by the Anne ArundelGridiron Rebels Football Club will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at Cromwell Fields at George T. Cromwell Elementary School at1015 Wellham Ave., Ferndale.
This event is open to all youth and high school football players. Registration costs is $25.
