Essex man fatally stabbed at home

July 16, 1991

A 32-year-old Essex man was fatally stabbed in his apartment early today during an argument over drugs, Baltimore County police said.

Kenneth Wayne Greer, of 922 Holgate Drive, was found lying on the pavement in front of 916 Holgate Drive in the Essexshire Gate Apartments when police arrived shortly after 3:15 a.m.

According to Sgt. Steven Doarnberger, police recovered the body and then entered Greer's apartment, where they found a 21-year-old Cedonia man.

Upon questioning the man, who said he was an acquaintance of Greer's, police learned that both men had been drinking, had gone to the apartment to use drugs, and then had gotten into an argument that led to the stabbing.

The man told police that Greer ran out of the apartment after being stabbed, but got only a short distance before he collapsed.

The man said he called 911 when the incident occurred. He was being held this morning at Essex police station, though he had not been charged with a crime.
