Robert T. Mann has been promoted in the U.S. Air Force to the rank of staff sergeant.

He is an avionic systems specialist at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz.

Mann is the son of Thomas L. Mann of Summerduck, Va., and Jean E.Mann, of Bel Air.

The sergeant is a 1982 graduate of Edgewood High School.

DORSEY IS PROMOTED

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class VeronicaA. Dorsey, whose husband, Harry, is the son of Dorothy and Harry Ballard Jr. of Bel Air, has been promoted to her present rank while serving at Naval Air Station, Sigonella, Italy.

A 1988 graduate of Perryville High School, she joined the Navy in September 1988.

GUERTLER GRADUATES

Airman John P. Guertler has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied Air Force missions, organization and customs, and received special training in human relations.

Airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degreethrough the Community College of the Air Force.

The airman is theson of Howard C. and Marie F. Guertler of Whiteford.

He is a 1987graduate of Harford Christian School.

COX COMPLETES TRAINING

Marine Pvt. Brian G. Cox, son of Carroll and Harriett Cox of Jarrettsville, has completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

During the 13-week cycle, Cox was taught the basics of battlefield survival. He was introduced to the typical daily routine that he will experience during his enlistment and studied the personal and professional standards traditionally exhibited by Marines.

He is a 1987 graduate of North Harford High School.

GRADY LEARNS PLUMBING

Marine Pvt. Charles P. Grady,son of Charles and Deborah Grady of Darlington, recently graduated from the basic hygiene equipment operator course at Marine Corps Engineer School, Marine Corps Base, Camp LeJeune, N.C.

During the 13-week course, Grady received instruction in basic plumbing, maintenance, military water supply, waterpurification and hygiene equipment and field sanitation.

A 1990 graduate of Havre de Grace High School, he joined the Marine Corps Reserve in September 1990.

KNOPP RETURNS FROM GULF

Marine Lance Cpl. John M. Knopp, son of Nancy M. Knopp of Jarrettsville, recently returned from deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation DesertStorm while serving with 4th Marine Division, Quantico, Va.

The 1989 graduate of North Harford High School joined the Marine Corps Reserve in August 1989.

CAMPBELL GRADUATES

Airman Michael S. Campbellhas graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

During the six weeks of training the airman studied AirForce Mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations.

He is the son of Robert S. Campbell of Bel Air and Lora M. Moffett of Aberdeen.

The airman is a 1989 graduate of Bel Air High School.

MURPHY A 2ND LIEUTENANT

Michael P. Murphy has been commissioned a second lieutenant through the Army ROTC program.

The new lieutenant earned a bachelor's degree from Loyola College.

Murphy is the son of Christopher Murphy, of Edgewood.

He is 1987 graduate of John Carroll School.

MUGHAL A 2ND LIEUTENANT

Mohammed A. Mughal has been commissioned a second lieutenant through the Army ROTC program.

The new lieutenant earned a bachelor's degreefrom the University of Baltimore.

Mughal is the son of Mahfuz I. and Shamim B. Mughal, of Joppa.

He is a 1987 graduate of Joppatowne High School.

DAVIS GIVEN ARMY MEDAL

Sgt. Allen S. Davis has beendecorated with the Army Achievement Medal, awarded to soldiers for meritorious service, acts of courage or other outstanding accomplishments.

Davis is a communications system maintenance specialist at Ledward Barracks, Germany.

He is the son of Wilson S. and Patricia M. Davis, of Fallston.

The sergeant is a 1981 graduate of Fallston High School.

WESCOTT LEARNS REPAIR

Army National Guard Pvt. 1st Class Brian K. Wescott has completed the observation/scout helicopter repair course at Fort Rucker, Daleville, Ala.

He is the son of Kenneth G. Wescott of Pylesville.

The private is a 1989 graduate of Harford Christian School.

WINDLE LEARNS ORDNANCE

Navy Airman Apprentice Robert L. Windle, son of Robert E. and Marie R. Windle of Havre de Grace, completed the basic aviation ordnanceman course.

During the 11-week course, conducted at Naval Air Technical

Training Center, Naval Air Station Memphis, Millington, Tenn., Windle received instruction in basic mathematics, physics, electricity, electronics, small arms and electrically-fired aircraft guns. He also received instruction on building up and loading bombs and missiles, and trouble-shooting of aircraft weapons systems.

A 1988 graduate of Havre de GraceHigh School, he joined the Navy in October 1990.

CHEEK COMPLETES TRAINING

Navy Seaman Anthony A. Jones, son of Gene Cheek of Aberdeen,has completed recruit training at the Recruit Training Center, San Diego.

During his eight-week training cycle, he studied general military subjects designed to prepare him for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic fields.

A 1990 graduate of Aberdeen High School, he joined the Navy in January 1991.
