Re-creating the daily life of Civil War days

Civil War Life will be portrayed Saturday and next Sunday at Sully Plantation in Chantilly, Va., once the home of Northern Virginia's first congressman, Richard Bland Lee.

Soldiers in blue and gray will offer a sampling of military life as they take part in dress parades, drills, cavalry maneuvers and skirmishes. The grounds will also be populated with sutlers, a dancing master, a daguerreotype photographer, a blacksmith, a gunsmith and a surgeon. Illustrating civilian life will be a period fashion show, Civil War music and baseball and other games. Food will available.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for children. Sully is on Route 28 in Chantilly, 3/4 mile north of U.S. 50. Call (703) 437-1794.
