If you were itching to see the Orioles back in action tonight after the three-day All-Star break, you are going to have to wait one more night.
Tonight's game from Oakland was originally scheduled to be broadcast by WMAR-TV, Channel 2 at 10:05 p.m. But last week, after an offer from the Orioles to switch games, the station dropped that telecast in favor of broadcasting the final game of the series on Sunday. The Orioles offered Channel 2 the game after learning that CBS was switching from Oakland to Anaheim, Calif., for the Angels-Yankees game. However, because of an oversight, WMAR-TV will be unable to televise Sunday's 3:05 game because of a contractual agreement that CBS has with major-league baseball. The contract prohibits any local baseball telecast from starting before 5 p.m. on a day when the network also televises a game.
Channel 2 is making arrangements to broadcast a future Orioles game in order to make up for the lost broadcast.
Channel 2's telecast of both tomorrow and Saturday's games will air as planned.
