As a result of the cancellation of this Sunday's game against the Salt Lake Sting, the Maryland Bays are offering ticket holders three options, a Bays spokesman said yesterday.
Vince Fiduccia said the July 14 tickets may be used for any of the nine remaining regular-season games at Cedar Lane Park in Columbia or when the Bays play the San Francisco Blackhawks at RFK Stadium on Aug. 10.
Fiduccia also said a refund can be obtained by calling the Bays office, (301) 880-0047 from Baltimore or (301) 206-2500 from Washington. Refund requests must be made no later than July 26.
In place of Sunday's game, the Bays will hold an "Evening with the Bays" from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Lane Park for season-ticket holders (both full and partial), sponsors and advertisers.
Players will sign autographs and scrimmage the Columbia Bays, an under-23 team sponsored partially by the Maryland club.
* Bays goalkeeper Steve Powers was named yesterday as the club's Player of the Month for June.
Powers, whose personal 18-game winning streak dating from June 29, 1990, was broken in Saturday's 3-1 loss in San Francisco, had a goals-against average of 0.60 in June.
"I also think that the success the Bays have had this season is mirrored in the success Steve has had in the goal," Bays coach Gary Hindley said.
Powers said: "I heard [Orioles shortstop] Cal Ripken say when you are in a groove, you play with confidence. . . . It's that type of confidence that makes a good goalkeeper."
