Let players, coaches pick All-Stars

It's your call

July 08, 1991

The players, managers and coaches should select the starters for baseball's All-Star Game, respondents to "It's Your Call" said this weekend.

The 373 callers opposed selection of the starters by fans (57 to 43 percent) and felt even more strongly that the media should not select the team (76 to 24 percent). But they approved of the players, managers and coaches (56 to 44 percent) making the choices, which currently are made by fans.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as would be done in a scientific public opinion poll.
