Minnesota Twins -- Placed P Scott Erickson (strained right elbow) and OF-1B Gene Larkin on the 15-day disabled list, Erickson retroactive to June 30. Activated P David West from the 30-day disabled list. Recalled OF Jarvis Brown from Class AAA Portland.

Philadelphia Phillies -- Extend Lee Thomas' contract as general manager by 2 years.

Texas Rangers -- Announced that rookie P Scott Chiamparino (1-0) will undergo exploratory surgery on his injured right elbow.


Milwaukee Bucks -- Announced that F Dale Ellis (19.3 points in 21 games) underwent back surgery in California to repair a herniated disk.

Utah Jazz -- Tendered a qualifying contract to G Jeff Malone.

Continental Basketball Association -- Columbus Horizon signed G Marvin Stevens.

United States Basketball League -- Empire State Stallions named Don Bassett head coach.


East Coast Conference -- Suspended the Brooklyn College men's soccer program from the conference tournament for two years following the NCAA's two-year suspension of the program from the national tournament for unsportsmanlike conduct toward game officials in the 1990 national tournament.

Northern California Athletic Conference -- Named Tim Ankcorn publicity director.

Arkansas -- Suspended C Oliver Miller from the basketball team for a minimum of two games and a maximum of three games, for his involvement in an off-campus incident.

Arizona State -- Dropped Ian Dale for alleged sexual abuse and assault from a Pacific-10 basketball team that will tour Belgium -- and The Netherlands for 12 days in August.

Clemson -- Signed Bill Wilhelm, baseball coach, to a three-year contract. Named Gary Burns assistant baseball coach.

Davidson -- Named Boyd Schoeller assistant field hockey coach and women's club lacrosse coach and John Filar women's basketball coach.

Duke -- Named Geoff Macdonald women's tennis coach.

East Texas State -- Named Paul Peak men's basketball coach.

Fairfield -- Named Kevin Clark men's assistant basketball coach.

Gettysburg -- Named Bill Pfitzinger women's tennis coach.

Idaho -- Named Blaine Bennett wide receiver coach.

Maryland -- Named Greg Manning, a four-year basketball starter at Maryland, executive director of the University's M Club.


Kansas City Chiefs -- Announced that Mike Webster will become assistant coach.


PGA -- Named Wendell Wilkie Gunn and Carol Semple Thompson to the advisory committee.


Los Angeles Kings -- Announced that D Jeff Chychrun underwent wrist surgery and will miss the first month of the 1991 season.
