An image-conscious Baltimore public relations executive offered yesterday to pay up to $544 for tickets police gave out Monday to 32 tardy motorists with expired tags who parked near the city's branch motor vehicle office at Mondawmin Mall.
A number of them found the tickets after walking out of the Motor Vehicle Adminstration with new registration and tag stickers in hand. Their tags had expired Sunday.
James A. Holechek Sr., 62, said he was "very upset" to read in news accounts that two foot patrol officers assigned to the mall full time have learned to look in the MVA lot for expired tags the first week of each month. That, he said, is "sneaky."
