Pvt. Craig J. Cordner has completed basic training at Fort Knox, Ky.

During the training, students received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, militaryjustice, first aid, and Army history and traditions.

Cordner is son of James R. and Kathleen A. Corner of Joppa.

Heis a 1989 graduate of Joppatowne High School.

WALTON TRAINS IN VA.

Army National Guard Pvt. Richard Walton has graduated from the materiel storage and handling course at Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va.

Students were trained in receipt, storage, shipment, issue, and preservation and packaging of supplies and equipment.

He is the son of Barbara A. Walton of Havre de Grace and Richard Walton of Aberdeen.

NAVALACADEMY GRADUATE

Jennifer F. Diaz, daughter of Manual G. and Elenita F. Diaz of Jarrettsville, has graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis and was commissioned an ensign in the Navy.

Diaz completed four years of intensive academic, physical and professional training which culminated with a bachelor's degree in general engineering.

She is a 1986 graduate of John Carroll School.

NAVAL ACADEMY GRAD

Navy Ensign Joseph A. DiGuardo, son of Joseph A. And Anne M. DiGuardo of Fallston, recently graduated from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, and was commissioned in his present rank in the U.S. Navy.

The 1991 Naval Academy graduate completed four years of intensive academic, physical and professional training that earned hima bachelor's degree in history.

He is a 1986 graduate of FallstonHigh School.

DESERT STORM RETURNEE

Navy Airman Michael A. Jardine, son of John A. Jardine of Bel Air, has returned from deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation Desert Storm, serving with Fighter Squadron-102, Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia Beach, Va.

He joined the Navy in August 1990.

HAMRICK GETS MEDAL

Spec. Tina L. Hamrick has received the Army Achievement Medal awarded to soldiersfor meritorious service, acts of courage, or other outstanding accomplishments.

She also was named soldier of the month.

Selection was based on her exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, significant self-improvement and other accomplishments.

She is a watercraft operator at Fort Eustis, Va.

Hamrick is thedaughter of Dorsey F. and Alice R. Hamrick of Street.

The specialist is a 1983 graduate of C. Milton Wright High School.

HURST GRADUATES

Sean R. Hurst has graduated from the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School, Fort Monmouth, Red Bank, N.J.

The school is designed to assist students in meeting the strict academic and physical requirements of the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.

Students received extensive instruction in English, mathematics, physical education and military training.

This summer, graduates will enter theacademy to begin four years of study leading to a bachelor's degree and a commission in the U.S. Army.

The cadet is the son of Jerry M. and Tina Hurst of Havre de Grace.

He is a 1990 graduate of Havrede Grace High School.

RAPPOLD IN TURKEY

Marine Cpl. William H. Rappold, son of William H. and Sharon R. Rappold of White Hall, arrivedin Iskenderun, Turkey, to assist with international relief efforts for Iraqi refugees while serving with 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, based at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

The 24th is part of the Mediterranean Amphibious Group, based in Norfolk, Va. The group includes the USS Guadalcanal, USS Austin and USS Charleston. On board the three ships are 2,300 Marines and sailors.

His wife, Stacy, is the daughter of Darrel and Mary Cox, of Whiteford.

A 1987 graduate of North HarfordHigh School, Rappold joined the Marine Corps in December 1987.

HOME FROM DESERT STORM

* Navy Lt. Cmdr. Paul S. Duke, son of Monroe andOlga Duke of Darlington, has returned from deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation Desert Storm while serving aboard the amphibious command ship USS Blue

Ridge, based in Yokosuka, Japan.

He is a 1975 graduate of Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn., with a bachelor of arts degree. He joined the Navy in August 1975.

*Marine Cpl. Michael L. Messenger, son of Leroy J. Messenger of Jarrettsville, has returned from deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation Desert Storm while serving with 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, Ca.

A 1987 graduate of Calvert Hall College High School, he joined the Marine Corps in May 1988.

* Marine Maj. William J. Davin, son of Carbra and Murial Davin of Fallston, has returned from deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation Desert Stormwhile serving with Marine Aircraft Group-29, Marine Corps Air Station New River, Jacksonville, N.C.

A 1970 graduate of John Carroll School and a 1974 graduate of Widner University, he joined the Marine Corps in April 1974.
