* Navy Ensign Hugh J. McFarlane, a 1987 graduate of Hammond High School
MARINE AIDS REFUGEES
Marine Lance Cpl. Bryan F. Greyerbiehl, son of Jerry and Dianne Greyerbiehl of Columbia, recently arrived at Iskenderun, Turkey, to assist with international relief efforts forIraqi refugees.
A 1987 graduate of Hammond High School, he joinedthe Marine Corps in October 1987.
MARINE RETURNS HOME
Marine Lance Cpl. William T. Spreen, son of William and Mary Ann Presley of Laurel, recently returned from deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation Desert Storm.
Spreen joined the Marine Corps in December 1988.
Pvt. Brian I. Rosenblatt, son of Michael N. Rosenblatt of Sykesville, has completed basic training at Fort Knox, Ky.
The private is a 1987 graduate of Liberty High School.
Pvt. William H. Thomas, son of Harold and Sally Thomas of Sykesville, has completed basic training at Fort Sill, Okla.
Thomas is a 1989 graduate of Liberty High School.
HERSCHMAN DOES BASIC
Pvt. 1st Class Aaron D. Herschman, son of Harris and Andrea Herschman of Columbia, has completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
Herschman is a 1990 graduate of Oakland Mills High School.
Pvt. Kenneth A. Gray Jr., son of Sherry C. Gray of Columbia, has completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
Gray is a 1990 graduate of Wilde Lake High School.
KELSEY WINS AWARD
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Susan E. Kelsey, daughter of Fred and Marilyn Kelsey of Columbia, has been selected Junior Sailor of the Yearfor Navy Regional Data Automation Center in Washington.
Kelsey, who was chosen from all of the junior sailors assigned to the command,was cited for her outstanding performance of duty, leadership and initiative.
A 1983 graduate of Howard High School, she joined the Navy in May 1989.
COLUMBIA MAN REPORTS
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Matthew D. Johnson, son of John and Mary Johnson of Columbia, reported for duty aboard the destroyer tender USS Sierra, homeported in Charleston, S.C.
A graduate of Oakland Mills High School, he joined the Navy in January 1988.
REELEY FINISHES COURSE
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Jeffrey L. Reeley, a 1987 graduate of Atholton High School,completed the fire control technician course.
Reeley, who joined the Navy in August 1989, was trained to operate and maintain the firecontrol system and associated tactical and non-tactical equipment.
HAINES COMPLETES TRAINING
Airman William E. Haines, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth D. Haines of Sykesville, has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, Haines studied the Air Forces' mission, organization and customs. He received training in human relations.
Haines is a 1990 graduate of Liberty High School in Eldersburg.
HAIR READY FOR ACADEMY
Kyle O. Hair, son of W. Edward and Freida G. Hair of Columbia, has graduated from the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School, Fort Monmouth, in Red Bank, N.J.
The school is designed to help students meet the academic and physical requirements of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
Hair, who will enter the academy this summer, is a 1990 graduate of Howard High School.
