Man Shot In Head In Serious Condition

A Severn man was shot in the leg Thursday after refusing to heed hisattacker's request to move.

James D. Jones, 19, of the 1700 blockof Meade Circle Road, was initially taken to North Arundel Hospital but was transferred to University Hospital's Shock Trauma Center.

He was listed in serious but stable condition late Friday.

Police said Jones was standing with a group of his friends on the 1900 block of Arwell Court when an unknown man came up and told them to move.

The group refused and the man pulled a handgun and started firing before running away.


County police believe they have broken a South County theft and arson ring with the arrest of four adults and two juveniles.

The man described by police as the main suspect is William Boyd, 18, of the 1700 block of Elkridge Drive in Edgewater.

Boyd has been charged in a series of six boat thefts, arsons, and general thefts committed since March.

Boyd was arrested June 20, along with James Millsap, 18, Donald C. Tang, 18, Bryan M. Dupree, 19, and two juveniles for attemptingto steal three rental jet skis from an Edgewater shop.

Police didnot release the addresses of the men and the two juveniles.
