Around the house

*Remove perspiration stains from clothing. Make a paste of baking soda and water and rub on spot. Launder as usual.

*For outdoor barbecues, use an ice bucket as a serving dish. It keeps cold and hot foods at the right temperatures and is unbreakable.

*Use a single fitted sheet as a tablecloth for your picnic table. The cloth will not blow into the food on windy days; it also serves as camouflage for an unsightly table.

*Keep extra paper or plastic trash bags at the bottom of waste containers for quick replacement.

In the garden

*Fertilize annuals every two weeks with a water-soluble plant food. Make sure the ground is deeply moist but not wet. Water plants with a hose the night before feeding during dry periods.
