Library Hours To Be Cut

Reduced hours and fewer overdue notices are changes local library users can expect as a result of the county budget process for fiscal 1992.

Effective July 1, all branches of the Anne Arundel County Public Library will close at 5 p.m. Fridays. The Annapolis, Crofton, Severna Park and North County branches will continue to stay open between1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sundays.

Financing has been discontinued for the Kuethe Reading Center at 3 Crain Highway in downtown Glen Burnie. It will close 5 p.m. June 28and reopen at a later date as a historical and genealogical researchlibrary operated by the Ann Arrundell County Historical Society.

Also effective July 1, the library will mail one overdue notice instead of two. It will be sent 32 days after the due date. Library branches are also distributing "borrowing logs" to help patrons keep track of borrowed materials and limit overdue fines.

With the Friday night change, the new hours that go into effect are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday.

These hours will be in effect for the following libraries branches: Annapolis, 1410 West St.; Crofton, 1657 Crofton Centre; Severna Park, 45 McKinsey Road; and North County, 1010 Eastway, Glen Burnie.

Other schedule changes are 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday and Saturday; and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Friday.
