* Four Carroll countians have returned from deployment to the Mideast in support of Operation Desert Storm.
Navy Airman Apprentice George H. Tutor and Navy Airman Recruit Aaron S. Bennett both served aboard the aircraft carrier USS America, homeported in Norfolk, Va.
Navy Airman Murwin M. Stultz served with Attack Squadron-85, Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia Beach, Va., and Navy Seaman Scott A. Loveless served aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea, homeported in Mayport, Fla.
Tutor is the son of Nancy M. Tutor of Westminster and a 1988 graduate of North Carroll High School. He joined the Navy in July 1990.
Bennett is the son of Steven J. and Dorthea L. Bennett of Mount Airy. A 1988 graduate of Linganore High School, Frederick County, he joined the Navy in August 1990.
The grandson of Murwin M. and Catherine V. Stultz of New Windsor, Stultz joinedthe Navy in July 1988. He is a 1988 graduate of South Carroll High School.
Loveless is the son of Jackie Hyder of Westminster. He joined the Navy in February 1989.
* Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Carlton D. Nave, son of Jenna B. Nicolette of Sykesville, recently was commended while serving aboard the submarine USS Jacksonville, homeported in Norfolk, Va.
He was recognized for his outstanding performance of duty, professionalism and overall dedication to the service.
A 1987 graduate of Liberty High School, he joined the Navy in August 1987.
* Marine Cpl. Anthony L. Stowers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony W. Weiss of Hampstead, recently landed at Iskenderun, Turkey, to assist international relief efforts for Iraqi refugees while serving with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, based at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
The 24th Unit is part of the Mediterranean Amphibious Group, homeported in Norfolk, Va. The group includes the USS Guadalcanal, USS Austin and USS Charleston. On board the three ships are 2,300 Marines and sailors.
A 1987 graduate of North Carroll High School, Stowers joined the Marine Corps in February 1988.
